About the Position
Under the direction of the Accountant, the occupant of this position will deliver financial services to the Project team based in Cherbourg. However, the occupant will work as a member of the Accounts section based in Paris. It is expected that there will be some overnight travel between Paris and Cherbourg.
About the Cherbourg Project
In December 2016, the French and Australian Governments signed an Inter-Government Agreement for the design, development and construction of a fleet of 20 new SEA 1000 submarines for the Royal Australian Navy.
The new submarines will be designed and developed with DCNS engineers based in Cherbourg.
Construction of the fleet will take place at the naval shipyards in South Australia.
As part of the design and development phase, the Commonwealth Acquisition and Sustainability Group (CASG) will deploy a team of up to 50 engineers to Cherbourg over the next seven years. The embassy will be required to provide a range of support services to the deployed personnel.
Monthly gross salary : 2582€ (+13th month bonus)
The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
=> General clerical accounting in accordance with established guidelines and legislation:
- Process payments from post’s bank account to vendors, as per properly completed and authorised payment forms
- Process and monitor payments, reminders and other issues from employees and suppliers
- Mail cheques
- Provide assistance, advice and training to users
=> Establish and maintain appropriate record keeping in accordance with embassy guidelines
=> Maintain SAP Vendor database and Asset Register,
=> Prepare and record all charges, including VAT reimbursements, in accordance with Departmental financial regulations and guidelines,
=> Calculate travel advance’s for authorised movement requisitions; prepare acquittal of travel advance,
=> Process salary allotments, in accordance with CASG/Defence instructions,
=> Calculate and process CASG conditions of service, where required and in accordance with the applicable provisions,
=> Provide back-up to general Accounts Clerk position.
• Fluency in French and a high level of written and spoken English
• Good knowledge of Excel, Sage 100 and SAP
• Proven experience in general clerical accounting
• Proven organisation skills and extremely rigorous
• Formal accounting qualifications
• Experience in payroll
