Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)
The role of DFAT is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high quality overseas aid program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.
The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.
Prospective applicants should note that Locally Engaged Staff position are not entitled to diplomatic conditions of service, and required a valid working visa for France.
The Australian Embassy in Paris does not provide sponsorship.
Prospective applicants should be aware that a high level of English and French is required to work at the Embassy.
Depending on the position, the language skills may vary from B2 to C2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) - self-assessment in both French and English can be found here : http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu.
Employment at the Australian embassy is opened to ALL NATIONALITIES.
Nevertheless, for SECURITY DESIGNATED POSITIONS, applicants must be a national of Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America, Canada, or United Kingdom and must be eligible for an Australian Government security clearance.
Persons holding dual French nationality with one of the above nationalities would not be eligible for a security clearance.
Applications, for security cleared position, that do not specifically address and satisfy this requirement, will not be considered.
